The North Carolina Asthma Program strives to reduce the burden of asthma upon the citizens of our state by:

Developing and maintaining a comprehensive statewide asthma surveillance system.
Developing and implementing a State Asthma Plan that effectively addresses asthma in all ages, ethnic groups, backgrounds, and in multiple settings.
Increasing public awareness of the importance of reducing the burden of asthma and the need for supportive policies and environments.
Providing technical assistance and resources to help support local asthma coalitions.
Providing leadership and administration for the statewide asthma coalition, the Asthma Alliance of North Carolina (AANC).

Asthma Education for School Nurses and Other Elementary-Middle School Professionals

Asthma Education Curriculum for School Nurses and Other Elementary-Middle School Professionals (PDF, 6.50 MB) - A curriculum to provide a standardized method of providing asthma education to school nurses and other school professionals in North Carolina.

How prevalent is Asthma in North Carolina? What are the rates among ethnic and economic groups? These are just a few of the questions answered by our new fact sheets.

Read the Updated Asthma Resource Guide (PDF, 8.3 MB), designed to provide useful asthma-related information to all populations affected by asthma in North Carolina. The guide can be used in its entirety or as individual educational materials / handouts on asthma-related topics.

N.C. Asthma Environmental Activity Survey

The Asthma Alliance of North Carolina’s Environmental Committee is collecting information on local and statewide activities that focus on identifying and reducing indoor and outdoor asthma triggers, as well as exploring the impact of these environmental exposures upon human health. Please take a few minutes to complete the N.C. Asthma Environmental Survey.
